"He was moody, too; unaccountably so; I more than once, when sent for to read to him..." Jane Eyre

Rationales Why I, Thursday Next, am in a rare, but quite significantly significant, Bad Mood:

1) One point. ONE POINT. And I shall never, ever see my beloved Tiki Barber play as a Giant again after last night's game. Goodbye Tiki. May you please become an announcer on Fox NFL Sunday so that I don't miss you so much. (sniff) And may you please finally divorce Ginny so I can marry you, my dear sir.
2) I have no sports to watch until the Yankees begin their season in the Spring.
3) Its Monday morning.
4) Its a rainy Monday morning.
5) My coffee cup got soggy because its a rainy Monday morning.
6) D.R. is off to Ranger School for over sixty days and can't contact anyone except on rare occasions between now and his expected graduation in March.
7) Jack is still away with my sister and brother-in-law in the Caribbean for another whole week; I miss my little poofy-headed nephew so very much.
8) It does not look like I will be getting a snow day at all this school year; no cozy pajama days filled with hot cocoa and TLC network in sight. Hell, I wore flip-flops this past Saturday.
9) I literally have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from all the damn work EHarmony asks me to do.
10) I feel guilty for being in a bad mood over some things that are trite, but I can't help it.
11) I pulled my shoulder muscle while running yesterday, which sounds odd and stupid but it really did happen.
12) Totally random, but I miss Sex and the City. It made Sunday nights before Mondays really bearable.
13) I didnt have the time to read The New York Times yesterday; that hasn't happened in almost a year.
14) Bush is still president.
15) I have a bad headache.
16) I arrived at work, to my classroom at exactly 6:48am this morning - 100 of my juniors take a statewide exam in English in two weeks and I am determined that they all shall pass.
17) NPR reported that Nancy Pelosi is threatening to cut money to the military; Nancy, I love you dearly, but you do not speak for me and 98% of the rest of the Democratic party. So, please shut up, dahling, and figure out ways to lower taxes instead.
18) I hate the fluorescent lights that are shining on me and this computer - my eyes hurt.
19) The number of papers I need to grade today exceeds sixty five.
20) Its only Monday morning.

Ah, good mope, Ms. Next. We all need one once in a while. I'm sorry about D.R, and politicians say things all the time that they can't follow through on. I can't truly sympathize with your lament over sports, but there's always ESPN. right? And you'll get a snow day, mother nature wouldn't have it any other way. It will probably be in March ;-)

Happy Monday my sweet teacher friend! EHarmony is hardcore! I was helping...yes helping..a friend apply to see if they would take her application for consideration. The good news is that if a man goes through all of that he must really want to meet a nice poofy-head :), non merlot drinking, cozy pj wearing during snow days, Jane loving....woman like you. Just keep at the question answering my friend. I have a good feeling about this adventure of thought provoking answers.

I'm sipping some yummy coffee right now. Cheers to us.

I am sad about Tiki too. At least we can still watch his equally hot, but seemingly less smart twinner.

Hope your Monday gets better.

WIP ~ Thanks for indulging me in my mope. You are right about ESPN, and the YES network does replay classic Yankee games, so seeing Derek Jeter is not in impossibility! ;)

TG ~ I am off to get another cup this morning - I certainly need one. I am actually desiring some expresso! Thanks for your sweet words.

Connie ~ I love any commercial the Barber boys are in.

Thursday!

I knew there was a reason I loved you.

It's a life-long fact with me that I hate Mondays. I hate ALL Mondays, not just rainy ones. But you know, since I work Sundays now, Mondays have gotten less of a pain.

Loved the list, Sweetness. Killed me and made me smile, cause it's so true and so FUNNY! I know you were serious, but I think Grumpy Thursday is hilarious. Probably my own take (there I go with that imagery, again!), but I just picture you as I read and keep in mind the pictures in my head are often filled with humor.

Anyhoo, had to reply.

1) You know where Tiki Barber came from, yes? UVA, BABY!!! UVA is my most beloved team in the world, and we have loved Tiki (and Charles Way-remember him? He was my friend Joan's lab partner!) since he started there. Sadly, my Hoos sucked this past year, and I didn't attend a game (I generally attend all home games). Salud, Tiki! How we loved Ye.

2) Hope Little Poofy Head comes home soon. :)

3) Hope D.R. enjoys Ranger school, and you'll see him again before you know. (Time flies)

4) I miss snow too. I think this is the end of days, this 75 degree weather in JANUARY.

5) This is why I never even finished my profile on Eharmony! They are insane with the questions! Jesus!

6) Hope the headache goes away.

Hope your day gets better, my dear!

xxxx,
M

Yargh...! Mondays are horrible, the post weekend comedown, and then there's the fact that the first cup of coffee on a monday morning while at work NEVER tastes as good as the mid-morning cuppa on a saturday morning when you've only got up and out of bed because the neighbourhood cats pulled the trash can over...

Even Thurs in a grumpus is still a better read than just about anything else in the world.

Man, Monday's suck sometimes don't they. You must have gotten the deluge of rain we had all day yesterday. what a bleak day it was. my brother-in-law went to ranger school. it is really, really, really, really....tough.. good luck for D.R.
yeah, and what's up with all this warm weather? I count on snowdays in January and February..sigh..
as far as Jack..you can spoil him all the more when he comes back.
i know one couple that met over eharmony and have been married for a couple of years. a co-worker who met his fiancee through eharmony is getting married this spring.
and yes, headaches suck..
and guess what? Monday is just about over.....:)...and we are another day older....:(

I'm with you on the no snowdays - even if I do live in the south. 1 nice big snow would be excellent!

And there are still sports to watch...my EAGLES!! :)

Hope you have a better Tuesday... :)

BTW - This is my new blog for 2007 - Vixen

oh Thursday, you are so right about eHarmony. By the time I got to page 5,394 of 'personality' questions, I was ready to start answering, "Yes, I like to cook harmless rabbits when provoked".

That was a fantastic pout. It reminds me of Lucy Van Pelt, from Peanuts, who would walk around w/a cloud of curly black squiggles over her head when she was mad. We all deserve a squiggly black Monday and here's to a much brighter, colder and snowier Tuesday, with endless cups of fragrant latte, twinkling eyes to smile into your own, and 100% all papers graded!!!

Dear Thursday,
Loved your list. The only thing I can comfort you (and myself) with, is that it's Tuesday! One day less to go 'til weekend :-)
I am sure that by tomorrow we will be able to see everything from a more positive perspective!

I was wrong. Tuesdays are not always better than Mondays.
Coffee machine at work was broken.
Tried to keep myself going with cups of water and green lemon tea. Not the same though.

T-Next, turn up the Boomtown Rats! I had a cruddy Monday too. I usually don't say this, but can you get to a dvd of Curb? Gotten me out of more hard-core funks than I can count.

Marty ~ 5 days until I get my poofy head back, but who is counting? I can't wait to just squeeze him and kiss is chubby cheeks.

Peej ~ Grumpus? Sigh...you make anything sound amazing in your British accent, whether spoken or written! :) Your comments, and Wonky T's, always make my day better!

Schaumi ~ Its only day two and I am already ready for this Ranger School thing to be over for him. If he gets through, I may run down there to see him graduate. As for EHarmony: so far its not *too* bad and there are already a few men who have piqued my interest - thanks for your inspirational anectdote! :)

Luxie ~ I love chocolate cake so much that I would even take it on the dry side! :) Thanks for the metaphorical pick-me-up!

Vixen ~ An Eagles fan, eh? I hope the Saints rock you, dahling. :) Go Nawlins!

Ryane ~ You conjured up one of my favorite images of Lucy and her black cloud! lol Hmmm. In an entirely different direction, I want a puppy now that I am thinking of Snoopy.

Percy ~ Sir, as always, I thank you for your kind and considerate constructive criticism. ;)

Frumteacher ~ Green tea in the morning to substitute for coffee? Oh dear, you poor thing. That does not constitute a bad day...that constitutes my worst nightmare! I hope you filled up on coffee post-work!

David ~ The fact that Boise didn't get to play was BS...I am glad the Gators rocked Ohio last night! Indeed, I watched "Curb" last night on HBO Comedy - its on each night at 7:30pm! Thank goodness for Davids - whether they be Larrys or Manatees! xoxoxoxoxo

Thank God for Florida!!! BSU--NCAA's sole undefeated team this year! Surely my contributions to the English program had something to do with it. ;)

oh man wehre to start!!! #17; right on. these guys do not want to win a war, they like a weak apologetic america. if we could just go in there and do it right we'd be done already and lives would have been saved. but this half assed aproach to war does not work.

#18: flourescent lights create fatigue. get your school to replace them with full spectrum daylight bulbs...they look kind of purple. it simulates sunlight.

#1 everybody loves tiki
#4 its freezing cold here in ATL and windy makes my neck tight

#6: how do a ranger and eharmony figure in the same post?

#9; get that little spandex brace for you hand. it'll help. i use it when i paint alot and it really works

oh i hope your mood improves. and yes, 12 days and counting and then the years worth of SK9 will stand as "art"...from beginning to end, abridged.

David ~ Of COURSE your contributions to the English dept. directly related to the win. :)

PToes ~ Steelers? Good taste. ;) Isnt D.R. handsome? NO NO NO...we are best friends, not an item.

RottiePooch ~ I am going to be sad without you. First I lose Cleo and now you. You are a work of art...I just wish you were a continual one. :*(
