"Then her soul sat on her lips, and language flowed..." ~ Jane Eyre

My boyfriend and I have both been reflective about the strong components of our relationship of late. I have to say that the connection of creativity is one of the many strong dynamics of our partnership.

Last night we wrote a poem together, in bed, stemming from an exercise of choosing words, writing separate poems, and then combining the two. He said that our poem needs to be edited, but I prefer it in its raw form right now. As for the last stanza, well, after sharing moments like this with him, it is impossible for me to imagine not writing poetry with him for all the days to come...

Missed Pain
by Amy and A.K.J.

Under duress
I allow the light
slowly
through the window pane.

The loss of night.
The loss of you.

Without you I cannot move.
I cannot feel,
I cannot do.

The pleasure I derive wanes.

While the night grants us
another moment,
I still cannot breathe.

And,
without you,
I cannot live.
I cannot be.

For you are finally intertwined with me.

"For you are finally intertwined with me" - I may have to use this line in my wedding vows if you don't mind. While I can appreciate good writing and fine words, I don't wield a pen like you do.

Beautiful. It is wonderful that you can share such a beautiful gift with each other. :)

Gorgeous. It seems that you both make a good match-as a couple, and as poets. Making sweet poetry together.

well done.

Wow..what a poetic couple you two are! I rarely find lovers who share exactly the same talent in my real life and it just amazes me to read this poem..truly beautiful..

There is this ancient match-making book my maternal grandpa always refers to when he had to decide whether a couple are meant to be with each other..many people went to see him for advice those days. Some findings will predict a couple are truly soul mates and inseparable, some shows they'll be having financial difficulties but the love is strong, some will make a very prosperous couple financially, some will end up disastrous. My mom used that book to see about us..we're in the second category..financially tough but strong in love. If my intuition is as good as my grandpa and his book..you guys might fall to the first category! Just my 2 cents..he he..

amy ~ love to write ... i have so many partially-filled journal books ... I have begun to take all the long-hand stuff and make it digital. i find poetry difficult to write ... it seems to 'find me' ... i do not find it. hence, much of my writing ends up being poetic prose.

how special that you and your prince have and do write together.

*sigh* I want a guy in bed who writes poetry. Oh wait, I kinda do... I mean, if picking the worst of the worst on "America's Got Talent" is poetry.

Guess not. But that's what 20+ years gets you.

Still, YOU two put together something very lovely.

There has been an amazing amount of warmth and tenderness in your posts of late.

It is a happy making thing.
I an glad you are sharing it with us.

I don't believe that editing would improve anything.
