You forgot to put a picture of yourself on there. ;)

"And you forgot ME, too! For shame!" says Bronte.

haha

Hmm. Gives me something to think about. Not sure who I'd put! Mostly authors. ;)

Crap! I just got that you were listing great POETS only here...

I thought it was a post on greats in general.

Sheesh. It's hard to concentrate sometimes. ;)

Very interesting. And now I know where the word Sapphic comes from. Happy Mute Monday!

Marty ~ You are too kind! Check out some other Mute Mondays and see if you want to participate; I love the concept!

Troll ~ I love Sappho; her poems are so succinct yet they have much depth.

ABoxer ~ Indeed, Miss Bronte is a favorite prose author. I confess that I am not a huge fan of her poems, but then again, her prose is lyrical to me!

JavaJ ~ Isnt old Walt just the best? :)

Aunty ~ OH MY GOODNESS YOU WILL LOVE LEVERTOV. She was considered one of the Black Mountain Poets...and you better know who they are cuz they were in the South at school! Her poems about Vietnam touched me the most and I did a huge paper on her for my MA in English. She floors me...

It looks like I am going to have to bone up on the classics if I want to hang out here. I just plain don't know who Denise Levertov and Pablo Neruda are. Must rectify the gap in my education.

I will give myself a pat on the back for actually recognising Old Walt and Homer. Not to be confused with Mr. Disney or the jaundiced fellow from Springfield.

Moi ~ Definitely read Neruda first...if I had to start with any of these poets, it would be Pablo!

NYD ~ Jaundiced fellow from Springfield...GIGGLE!

She ~ Oh I remember those poetry battle days...I wish Percy (Paul) was still writing under that pen; what a great man. Of course K9's reigned supreme; I miss my pooch, too! She pup, you have GOT to read Pablo Neruda. I smell a Neruda post for tomorrow...

Leigh ~ Thanks for visiting! :)
